"Qasab" - is an Arabic / Urdu word which means "profession, trade" in English.
The brand belongs to KMVS, a rural women’s co-operative organization from the Kutch desert region of Gujarat, India. KMVS has 12000 members of which around 1200 are traditional craftswomen, organised and operating as self sustaining producer groups.
Their sustained efforts over the last decade have helped these women, their families and communities extricate themselves from a vicious downward spiral of commercial exploitation by middlemen and traders.
KMVS wanted a distinct brand identity to reflect ethics and quality of rural handloom products designed and manufactured by their members.
The design concept emphasised and accentuated by the use of earthy and rugged rural colours of Red and Black and creative use of raw Khakhi, hand-made paper (represents desert sand) as the principal material of choice.
Brand Identity included logo design and its seamless rendering through to the Stationary and all the elements of retail merchandise, Product graphics and retail packaging.
One of my most loved project !!
