UX DESIGN I MAN CASE STUDY


Client: "MAN"- A not for profit social organisation working to combat the suicide rate of men. 

Brief: Create a Mobile App that appeals to ambitious, professional and socially conscious men.  

Goal: Making mental health and wellbeing a proactive focus for every man.


My Role:

User Research, Affinity Mapping, Ideation, Design Solution, Prototyping (Wire framing), Liaising with Developers

KEY INSIGHTS

  • 60% of Suicide rates are due to loneliness

  • People used Sports, games and hobbies as stress relievers by engaging in them

  • Mental health was difficult to deal with, no avenue to find support

  • People needed education around Mental health and identification of symptoms

  • People have used MeetUp's for professional, business focused learning

  • Meaningful Activities Protect the Brain from Depression

  • People who have overcome depression like to contribute to the society by sharing their stories


Based on our Competitive Analysis, Stakeholder and User Interviews, we synthesised data to find pattern and themes. Made Personas and found major pain points. 


Persona: Meet Byran, 35yrs, Professional

  • A trusted source of support, motivation and education to live his to the fullest.

  • A tool to assist him proactively manage his mental, physical and professional health.

Why Byran?

  • By providing him with support and professional platform, we can keep him engage.

  • We can help him proactively stay focused and switched on to avoid getting into depression.


Problem Statement:

  • How do we provide Byran with support and social platform where he can connect with like-minded people?

  • How do we help Byran stay focused on his mental, physical and professional goals?


IDEATION:  Educate. Engage. Empower.

Educate.  

  • Make People aware about the mental health issues and how to identify early signs of depression.

  • How to help loved ones who are struggling with mental health issues

Engage. 

  • Provide options to engage in Social, Mental, Physical and Professional activities

  • Interact with wider community to address loneliness

 Empower. 

  • Give people a platform to share their story.

  • Encourage them to become a Mentor to someone who is impacted by Mental health issues

  • Start Meet Up groups

Further Recommendations:

  • Add progress meter of their mental, physical and professional health

  • Remind them to get physically active - do exercise, yoga or meditation, and track their activity.

  • Add Mentor program

  • Integration with health care and support services.
